Winter Holiday PvP Pokemon
Winter Holiday PvP Pokemon
Today we're bringing the best Pokemon to keep a lookout for in your hunts for PvP Go Battle League
First up we got costume Pikachu that can evolve into Raichu. With the addition of Trailblaze to Raichu's moveset, Raichu can finally put a little more pressure on those pesky mud boys like Swampert and Whiscash.
While it is not top meta by any means, as the Mud boys with an energy start can still spam ground moves, it can definetely be a cheap and easy option for new players.
Great League- Raichu ranks 117 with Volt Switch, Wild Charge and Trailblaze
Rank 1 IVs are 0/15/14

Alolan Vulpix
This Pokemon is a priority to hunt for if you're gonna participate in the upcoming Holiday cup Little edition. While it does have a lot of threats in the top ranked meta, it surprisingly ranks well. Most of its good matchups include Mandibuzz and most grass type Pokemon. Not only that, Alolan Ninetales is decent in the Great League and Ultra League.
Little Holiday cup- Alolan Vulpix ranks 5 with Powder Snow, Weather Ball, and Dark Pulse
Rank 1 IV: 0/15/14
Great League- Alolan Ninetales ranks 98 with Powder Snow, Weather Ball, and Dazzling Gleam
Rank 1 IV: 0/14/12
Ultra League- Ranks 89 as an XL with Powder Snow, Weather Ball, and Dazzling Gleam
Rank 1 IV: 7/15/15
*Shadow variants of Alolan Vulpix and Ninetales are ranked within the top 10 in the little Holiday Cup
Seel
With the update to it's moveset, Dewgong has become a solid choice to run using the Drill Run and Icy Wind(guarantee to drop attack by one stage) combination.
Great League- Dewgong ranks 93 with Ice Shard(exclusive), Icy Wind(exclusive), and Drill Run
Rank 1 IV: 0/12/15
Costume Eevee
One of the better options to evolve your PvP IV Holiday costume Eevee is none other than Umbreon. While Umbreon has fallen off with the changes in the meta, it's still serves as a defensive wall against most Pokemon in the meta. It's a cheap and accessible option for newer players looking to get into the Go Battle League.
Pokemon that it has good matchups against include the newly buffed Skarmory, Talonflame, and Lanturn. Some Pokemon to watchout for include Azumarill, Vigoroth and Medicham(isn't as common as it used to be)
Great League- Umbreon ranks 69 with Snarl, Foul Play, and Last Resort(exlcusive) *can opt to go for Psychic(exclusive) to better handle Poliwrath, Medicham, and Clodsire
Rank 1 IV: 0/15/15
Swinub
Highly ranked as an Ice type attacker in Raids, Mamoswine is a must have in your arsenal. In the Master League, Mamoswine has some play. He's mostly a glass cannon. More often than not, you'll have to sacrifice some shields for this fella. Favorable matchups include flying types like Togekiss and dragons like the #1 ranked Pokemon in the Master League, Zygarde (Complete form).
Master League- Mamoswine ranks 24 as XL with Powder Snow, Avalanche, and High Horsepower
Rank 1 IV: 15/15/15
Snover
Following the theme of glass cannons, next up we got Froslass. In Open Great League, Froslass is ok. It shines better in limited formats such as Holiday cup and the upcoming Great League Remix. You'll want to pair Froslass with Pokemon that can handle water and ground types. Depending on the situation, Froslass still has some play against Fire types. The most common fire types are usually flyers as well (charizard and talonflame). Skeledirge can also take major damage from a Shadow Ball. On the other hand, if these Fire types have an energy advantage, it's game over for Froslass.
Great League- Froslass ranks 97 with Powder Snow, Avalanche, and Shadow Ball
Rank 1 IV: 0/15/15
Holiday Cup- Ranks 49 with same moveset and IVs
Great League Remix- Ranks 54 with same moveset and IVs
Spheal
Walrein has seen better days. Back in the day, Walrein used to everywhereee and for good reason. He was just really good. So much so that he got slightly nerfed(twice). Powder snows take slightly longer to get to and Earthquakes damage was reduced. While he isn't as good as he once was, Walrein still has some play in the meta with how bulky he is and isn't a terrible choice to have in your team. He would be nowhere as good now without the update to his moveset.
Great League- Walrein ranks 102 with Powder Snow(Exclusive), Icicle Spear(Exclusive), and Earthquake
*Shadow ranks slightly better at 79 with same moveset and IVs
Rank 1 IV: 0/12/15
Holiday Cup- Ranks 63
*Shadow ranks 58
Little Holiday Cup- Ranks 43
Shadow ranks 67. Not as good in this format compared to regular
Great League Remix- **With the best ranking so far at 27
Shadow at 34
If you have a good Walrein built, it looks he will get the best performance in the Great League Remix as well as the Shadow Variant.
Wrapping things up, we have one of the sleeper picks to go over. Amaura and Aurorus! They appear to really shine in the recent and upcoming limited cup formats.
Great League- Aurorus ranks 71 with Powder Snow, Weather Ball, and Meteor Beam
Rank 1 IVs: 0/12/13
Holiday Cup- Aurorus ranks #2. It's best ranking so far!
Little Holiday Cup- Amaura takes the #2 spot! Moveset is Powder Snow, Weather Ball, and Meteor Beam
Rank 1 IVs: 0/13/15
Aurorus ranks 16
Great League Remix- Aurorus ranks 17
Overall, while they may be ranked high, they are best paired with Pokemon that can go toe to toe with the likes of the very common Vigoroth.
That's it for now. Until next time, Trainers!
